X, a survivor from Alipurduar, who was rescued from the brothel of Pune in 2023 and under shelter care of Jabala. After receiving trauma counselling, literacy training etc. got enrolled at the General Duty Assistant (GDA) Course in the Kalimpong Institute in January 2025. Since then, she has experienced psychological growth and increased motivation. Initially, she showed little enthusiasm for joining and completing the GDA course, but now she is eagerly looking forward to resuming classes after the short break during her exams. She speaks with enthusiasm about what she has learnt so far and what she will learn ahead in the course. Moreover, she has had a positive perspective, moving from considering marriage soon after restoration but now deciding to wait until she feels more independent and confident in herself.
X is not alone there are other survivors and vulnerable women and girls who are presently under the Newly Built Shelter Care are looking forward to a new life where they can live without stigma and with pride.
