Shade for Children continues to serve in Western Ukraine despite the war with Russia now in it's 7th month. Shade for Children received a generous donation from GlobalGiving early in the war but otherwise the platform has been of limited use. It seems like genocide, illegal referendums and annexations in soveriegn countries, indescriminate bombing of civilians as well as torture, is not longer in the news cycle.
Shade for Children continues to visit orphaned children on a weekly basis as well as provide advocacy and resources to help families stay together, the reunify broken families, and advocate for adoption and foster care. Shade for Children founders had a court date the day after the war started and completed an in-country adoption one month later.
War makes orphans so we will stay in Ukraine as long as we can stay and try to make a difference in the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children.
