YOU are educating the communities in southwest Uganda about sexual assault!
In November Nyaka partnered with Global Health Corps to host a Healthy Happy Hearts Community Fun Day at the Nyaka Blue Lupin Community Library. The goal of the event was to address sexual assault and teen pregnancy by addressing these issues in a holistic way. “Youth reproductive health”, the broad theme of the event, was redefined to include emotional, social, psychological, and physical health.
We had 205 students, grandmothers, and community members in attendance!
In the morning, Nyaka's Global Health Corps Fellows facilitated a series of learning sessions. This was followed by an assembly with brief presentations and speeches, lunch, and a fun afternoon with music and a volleyball tournament. Three facilitators from Kambuga Hospital offered free HIV testing and counselling for the event. They tested 81 attendees. They all tested negative!
This event was only possible because of YOUR support. Thank YOU for spreading good information throughout southwest Uganda!
