The Operation Blessing Japan team is developing plans for this year's camp, an annual feature of our community support program in Minami Soma, Fukushima.
Last year we expanded our community support center in the Jus Mall, to ten times the size of our original center. Now we are able to run multiple programs, including a cafe on a daily basis. This has enable us to not only provide a safe outdoor camp program for the children, but also run special events, and vacation-time events during the year.
Children in Fukushima still live under the shadow of the nuclear power plant disaster. Every child has to undergo regular scans and thyroid checks, to monitor any adverse effects from the nuclear radiation. Though levels have decreased since the disaster 9 years ago, levels are still higher than normal, and there are still areas off limits due to the dangerous radiation level.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our children's programs in Fukushima.
