Project Report | May 22, 2019
Camp site decided for 2019 Camp

By Don Thomson | National Director

The Operation Blessing Japan team is developing plans for this year's camp. We have decided to use the same camp facilities as we did last year and are working out details of the programs which will include outdoor activities in forested play areas and on beaches of Miyagi Prefecture, indoor craft activities, games, campfire sing-a-long, and much more.

Children in Fukushima still live under the shadow of the nuclear power plant disaster. Every child has to undergo regular scans and thyroid checks, to monitor any adverse effects from the nuclear radiation. Though levels have decreased since the disaster 8 years ago, levels are still higher than normal, and there are still areas off limits due to the dangerous radiation level.

If you would like to view a video of our work in Fukushima, which includes the children's camps, please go to the link below. Thank you for your ongoing support of our projects in Fukushima.

Don Thomson,

National Director
