The Operation Blessing Japan team is already developing plans for this year's camps. Staff are checking out suitable camp facilities, and working out details of the programs.
This year, we are looking at doing slightly longer camp for more intense camp experience.
Children in Fukushima still live under the shadow of the nuclear power plant disaster. Every child has to undergo regular scans and thyroid checks, to monitor any adverse effects from the nuclear radiation. Though levels have decreased since the disaster 8 years ago, levels are still higher than normal, and there are still areas off limits due to the dangerous radiation level.
