BIG STEPS thanks to YOU!

By Karen Wienberg | Chair, Board of Directors

Patrico, reunited with his family and in school!
Patrico, reunited with his family and in school!

In the last report I told you of the amazing, first ever, Street Child Consultation event that we organized and co-hosted with Haiti Social Services in December. I am excited to now let you know that we have 27 new children in school – including those children that we met at that moving event! These brave former street children have been reunited with their families, have school uniforms, supplies and are able to attend school – and have hope for a real future – because of you!

Many have never been to school, so being able to provide tutors is key to them being able to catch up, develop self-esteem, and succeed. Being united with their families and having the opportunity to learn and grow is a wonderful statement and model for many.

A special pilot project is also underway – an integratedmentorship/leadership program – with some of our longterm youth leading the new youth, under the mentorship of instructors, exploring sports and arts – and health and well-being!

I am happy to share a wonderful example of progression with you. One of our young women is attending TWO schools right now, re-working her final year of high school in a special weekend class AND attending professional schooling to become a teacher! Today’s students really are tomorrow’s teachers and leaders. Thank you for giving that chance!

Here is a link to a newly released 'cut' from the upcoming full length documentary "Morgan's Kids", following the young woman that founded and leads Little Footprints Big Steps. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9fdPx1srGI

Thank you so very very much for the strength and opportunity your support is providing.

You are part of creating a new reality each day.
