This project will provide quality technical vocational skills training to 150 underprivileged youths living in the slum communities of Montserrado County, the Republic of Liberia in the fields where employment opportunities are available or are growing such as cosmetology, hotel management, electricity, plumbing, masonry, auto-mechanic, air condition repair, computer software, and nurse aid to increase their chances of employment, thereby strengthening their living conditions.
Liberia has a youthful population constituting 76% of youths many of whom are living in densely populated slum communities where they are faced with several socioeconomic problems due to lack of technical vocational skills training opportunities thereby resulting in a very high unemployment rate among them; as a result, they get involved with theft and gambling to sustain their lives. It is common to see them in a very large number crowding the communities without a meaningful purpose.
The project will focus on efficient accelerated programs designed to provide technical-vocational skills to 150 underprivileged youths thereby achieving our overarching objectives by 20% of our overall three years strategic plan, a community in which all youths having the tools and opportunities necessary for jobs and careers that lead to economic self-sufficiency, basic healthcare services, shelter, safety, and education.
The long-term impact of the project will really bring about a great change in their lives and in communities they represent. They will use their new skills to create the enabling environments for themselves, their families to be self - dependent, contribute to the development of their respective communities, and be active participants in the development effort of the nation.
