After the Kenyan government very suddenly lifted the second lock down, we quickly began working with our two centers to determine the best way to move forward. We wanted to make sure the families we work with were empowered as they made this transition. As per our centers' recommendation, we determined that moving from food distribution to seed distribution would help these families to be able to provide for themselves while they began looking for work again now that things were more open.
Each family received seeds and fertilizer so that they could plant enough crops to feed their families (which we had been doing for them up until this point) while they were allowed to resume looking for work again. Despite most of the country experiencing a severe drought, thankfully the areas we work in have had several rains and their first harvest has been successful! As these families continue the transition back to pre-lockdown life, we thank you for your continued support!
