We have been busy recruiting mentors and mentees over the past few months. Founder Gillian Anderson showed her support with some social media posts, to coincide with our 15th Anniversary. She also made a special video for our programme with the Mayor of London's New Deal for Young People.
U.K. Mentee Liaisons have been visiting our partners, making connections and raising awareness with young people who would be eligible for mentoring.
The South African Alumni were able meet up again in person. It is really wonderful that they are able to see each other regularly. There were lots of new attendees which was great to see. They started the session with ice breaker games and everybody introduced themselves, talking about why they wanted to be part of the Alumni and the impact SAYes had on their personal growth. Also on the agenda were the elections for Chairperson and Secretary positions. The prospective candidates explained the importance of leading the Alumni group; structuring the group's short and long term goals; and monitoring engagement so that it is productive and consistent. Mentee Liaisons regularly visit our partner Child and Youth Care Centres to support mentees.
The Alumni also showed their support for the up-and-coming National Mentoring Day in the U.K.
Funding partner London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) invited SAYes Ambassadors to their offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Here, the young women took part in a workshop on financial education. This was to mark South Africa's 'Day of the Girl' 2023.
As always, thank you for your continued support and we look forward to sharing more success stories in our next report.
