I know we are already in March but we are now in a brand New Year, since our last report, so it still feels apt to wish you all a very blessed and happy New Year for 2022. We hope that all those New Year resolutions are bearing fruit and are not long forgotten.
In our last report, I wrote about the symbolism of Kintsugi and the hospital scars that we are working on transforming through this Legacy renovation project. With your continued support we will weave the damaged and broken hospital areas into "gold" and create spaces that are healing, efficient and life-saving.
Our fundraising is now in full swing and we have bedded down the drawings and the plans for Phase 1 of our Legacy project. (These have been updated since we last spoke). Phase 1 of the renovation work will cater for 65 beds and then through the further phases of this project we plan to bring this up to 102 beds in total in the Neonatal Ward. I am proud to include the link below to our final fundraising proposal and we look forward to your positive response.
In addition to the Neonatal Ward we are also busy with plans for the renovation of one of the current Registrar areas, so that during the long night shifts there is a place to rest and refresh as they care for these critically ill children.
Each day there is something new happening, as we work closely with the hospital to improve their work conditions and the facilities for the team, families and children.
Since our last report we also provided additional Food and Toiletry buckets for over the Christmas period and into January and February for the month of love. We also delivered 250 appreciation cards to the health professionals who work with the children and asked them to write a card to each-other reminding their colleagues what they appreciate about one-another. We also challenged them to think about what they appreciate about themselves, as we continue on our mission to remind the health professionals that they too are human beings. Part of the month of love extended will be a spa day at the hospital this next week to pamper the health professionals and to say thank you for all they have done and achieved during the past 2 years of Covid and all the associated craziness of this time in healthcare.
Click on the link below and we really hope you enjoy the below donor funding document and we really trust that you will "Dare to Dream" alongside us!
We also ask you to join us as we pause to remember the People of Ukraine and the health professionals and children of Ukraine as they battle life and care under conditions of war! Healthcare is hard enough and now with the devastation and battle that they face - they are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Warmest wishes,
Melissa
