Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital is the only mother & child hospital in South Africa, delivering over 14000 babies annually. The hospital is old & run down, & their community needs far outweigh their current capacity. With an aging building and equipment and limited ICU space, the hospital has many challenges. Our goal is to work with hospital management to help them provide excellence of care through the provision of better facilities, psycho-social support & state of the art equipment.
Rahima Moosa Mother & Child hospital is a 75 year old hospital with an ailing infrastructure. Life saving machinery is old & worn needing replacement & repair. The hospital is an essential facility catering for the poorest communities within South Africa & often finds it's 320 bed facility overcrowded with manpower & facilities stretched beyond capacity. Increased pressures of the Covid-19 pandemic & other communicable diseases have highlighted the desperate need for modernisation & support.
In responding to the need for modernisation of the facilities & by providing social support for families through the bucket programme -Footprints 4 Sam will be able to ensure that the hospital & equipment are upgraded while the emotional & social well being of the families & the health professionals are also catered for. Beautiful spaces within the hospital with state of the art facilities will ensure that health professionals can give optimal care without being hindered by a lack of resources.
The long-term impact of this project, which is a long-term project in & of itself is that Footprints 4 Sam with this critical funding will be able to offer underprivileged communities a modern state-of-the-art hospital. One that will ensure that babies & children are able to be cared for in an environment that will promote true healing & quality of life for all- i.e for patients, parents & carers. A life saving teaching hospital sustainably equipped to teach and care for generations to come.
