By Alex Pacheco | President, 600 Million Dogs
When Team 600 rescued Buttercup, she was all alone on the outskirts of town, suffering from a severe wound on her mouth. The wound was infested with maggots … and she was in urgent need of care.
It took time for us to earn her trust, but we were eventually able to get her to the veterinarian for treatment. Thankfully, she is on a path to recovery. She is safe, happy, and enjoying life!
Thanks to animal advocates like you, we are able to rescue dogs like Buttercup. But our mission extends far beyond rescuing animals from a painful life on the streets.
We’re determined to end the #1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats -- overpopulation -- by developing a permanent-lasting birth control cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will in effect spay or neuter -- without surgery.

Together, we can end stray overpopulation — the #1 cause of suffering for dogs and cats.
Globally, an estimated 600 million stray dogs and 480 million stray cats roam the streets daily.
Each year, they give birth to over one billion homeless puppies and kittens – born into a life of hunger and suffering.
On behalf of Buttercup and countless stray dogs and cats around the world, we can never thank you enough for caring!
