Spring makes our world look, smell, and sound different. The cold and the wet weather takes a backseat while flowers begin to bloom, and the birds and wildlife become more active. It's a reminder that we are alive and we are part of something bigger.
Here at Greenhill, Spring means the beginning of more kittens and puppies coming to the shelter. Our caring staff, volunteers and foster families help provide all the medical treatments and loving care necessary in these critical early stages before the animals are adopted into loving homes.
Based on the number of animals that have already come in this year, we anticpate that this Spring will be a record year. With the help of volunteers, fosters and caring donors, we will care for over 400 animals each month.
We will care for animals like Cheddar Jack, who was brought to us by a good Samaritan after he was found abandoned in a box. He came to the shelter blind after being born without eyes. Our veterinarian and medical team performed surgery to prevent infection of the eyelids and to make Cheddar Jack more comfortable. He also has multiple congenital anomalies, meaning he was born with more than one genetic defect, but aside from these unique features, Cheddar Jack is an extremely friendly and affectionate cat. He wants to be friends with everyone he hears and rubs his head into yours for pets. He especially loves belly rubs. Plus, he has a few black whiskers which we adore!
Thanks to your past support, Greenhill has been able to help animals like Cheddar Jack, and expand services to help more animals and people. But while there are still animals in need, our work continues. If you are able, please consider another gift at this time to ensure that Greenhill can be there to step up in times of crisis.
Thank you.
