A magnitude 6.4 RS earthquake struck Karnali Province in western Nepal on 3 November 2023, with several aftershocks occurring thereafter. The EQ affected more than 35,000 families homeless, more than 157 people dead, more than 400 wounded, several animals injured and dead, agriculture land damaged. The erosion and landslides occurs which affect road blockade. The affected families have no foods, clean drinking water, safety toilet and medicines. They live in open sky. In this regards during winter season (December to February) the affected families about 125(women and older person) received blanket as a warm clothes which is demand and need based material by the affected families. 

Along with this for long term income generation activities to maintain livelihood of the families, MRC Nepal supported vegetable seeds foe fresh vegetable production as a quick income genaration activities ( 3 to 4 month period). Participating afeected families received seeds, nutrients, skill enhancemnet capacity building training and technical backstopping support. So that they are capable of producing fresh vegetables which meet their kitchen requirement and also sell to raise income and maintain better livelihood. The package and practices of vegetable farming have been introduced as a demand and need based activities by the earthquake affected families. Within 3 to 4 month period the beneficiaries able to earn money from the sell of vegetables so that improve thir livelihood sustainably in a longer period. The demand is highly increasing in this regard and vegetable farming will be the best option for increasing income and maintaining livelihood of the affected people.

In this regards, the affected families in a long run the need based and demand based income generation activities sustainably is the felt need in the areas for affected families.
