PLANTING PROSPERITY IN PERUVIAN FARM FAMILIES

By Maria Varela | Programme leader

Dear Donors

All these months we have been working day in and day out with each of the farming families.
The prosperity of the families is focused on improving their housing and food, making their businesses fair and sustainable, and improving their soil, air quality and water availability by planting trees.
Their homes are improving, being clean and tidy, smoke free, with walls tiled and painted, many of them with their future plan on the walls of a special place in their house, as well as establishing bio-gardens with vegetables and fruit trees to improve their nutrition; making their existing businesses or innovating new businesses sustainable and with fair prices; and recovering their soils, air and water quality of their environment and the planet by planting trees.
The improvement of the economy is focused on improving and innovating their businesses or starting new ones, such as guinea pig breeding, beekeeping, pasture management, actions to improve the production of dairy cows, the production of dairy products, the rich cheese and yoghurt, better practices for the production of sheep, alpacas.

In the communities they have been taking care of each plant in the nurseries, preparing for the rainy season and the beginning of the forestation campaign 2022-2023; they are establishing in their Communal Assemblies as a space for decision making, the formation of the Forestry Committees who will watch over the care and maintenance of the planted trees.
The inter-learning internships at the successful Granja Porcón in Cajamarca and the successful communities and families in Cusco have been fundamental for the families to identify themselves and see the potential they have for their future. The internships bring the enthusiasm of what they have learned; the families who participated arrive in their communities, and organise community assemblies with the support of our coordinator to replicate all the knowledge acquired to the other families and transmit to them the excitement of learning, proposing what they can do and getting down to work.

We continue to establish an atmosphere of trust and dialogue between the community authorities and the families of the communities, and the Pachamama Raymi team, this relationship is very important for the sustainability of the families.
Our project coordinators have undergone national and international training to improve our nurseries and this has been very valuable, and we are already putting it into practice.

We are grateful to be in a situation that allows us to continue to serve our community during this crisis.
We hope to continue to count on your generosity and continue to sow prosperity!

Help us with your donation to Sow Prosperity!

BLESSINGS

TEAM PACHAMAMA RAYMI
