Your donations contribute to real change!

By Simona Nevieriene | Team leader

Real story
Real story

Thank you for your donations. With your aid we can significantly help pregnant women that are in very vulnerable situations (or those that just gave birth)! For those women possibility to share their complex emotions, posibility to get very specific material help is crucial and life changing!

"Our pregnancy journey was extremely difficult from the beginning. This is my 3rd child and it was not planned. When I found out that I was expecting, I was shocked, because the plans were completely different. There were difficulties with my husband and financially. Psychologically I wasn't ready at all, it was time to go back to work... And all the doctors' guesses about the health - the pregnancy became even more stressful. Opinion of those around me was that it's really not necessary. But inside I felt that I couldn't do otherwise though different thoughts arose. I decided to contact Krizinio neštumo centras. I wrote a letter and I got help very quickly. After talking with psychologist Ruta, I immediately felt that a stone had fallen from my heart. I am very grateful. I received emotional support, breastfeeding and legal advice. Now we are a happy family and I am happy to have my daughter”.

It’s a typical reaction to an unplanned pregnancy – shock and denial. But with the help of some close person (sad when it’s not help but pressure) or the possibility of sharing one’s thoughts with a psychologist, can make a real difference. Just need to give oneself some time to calm down and accept a new reality which, most of cases, appears to be fulfilling, giving joy and meaning.

During past 4 months we had 130 new people who applied for the help at our Centre. These were women who sought help in their despair while pregnant, after birth or baby loss. We got news about 14 babies born to women who got help at our Centre. It‘s always such a joy to get such news!

Help provided:

  • Totatly 460 different consultations were provided to women;
  • 225  of consultations provided were psychosocial (emotional and material/financial support);
  • There were 192 psychological counselling sessions;
  •  24 doula consultations were provided and 7 women had gynaecologist examinations;
  • 1 young teenage girl got doula help during her childbirth which was of great significance to her as she didn‘t have parents and father of her child has disappeared;
  •  There were 11 other consultations (psychiatrists, lawyers, geneticist, “buddies”);
  •  Material help provided: Centre delivered 11 baby layettes, 13 baby strollers, 4 baby beds, 3578 pieces of diapers, 32 packs of formula milk, more than 61 sets of clothes for babies and mothers, and lots of hygiene items (232 pcs);
  • Every month 6 women received regular financial help. Totaly 12 different women were given financial help (6 women irregular). During those 4 months over 2534 euros in total of financial assistance was provided (to cover their living, medical expenses, to buy food).

Self-help groups:

During 4 month period we had 5 different self-help groups for women: 1 group for women who had miscarriages, 1 for those who were facing postpartum depressions, 2 groups for women who gave birth and are in need to discuss about motherhood and 1 group for those women who were facing crisis pregnancies. Totally 40 women attended those groups, they had 65 different meeeting sessions.

"After the loss of my little one, less than a month had passed when I decided  to join a mutual support group. I felt completely crushed, weak, vulnerable, broken, I lost the will to live and was the weakest version of myself. I hesitated for a while to join this group, I didn't want to talk about the loss of my girl, it was too painful. I didn't want to talk about it even with my relatives.  A mutual support group became a tradition every week, which I always looked forward to. It's not just about loss, it's about ourselves, what we were, what we are now, what we do to help ourselves. This is a fellowship group of angel mothers, support for each other, compassion, an opportunity to talk out. You can be yourself. And that helped us. These are our angels, whom we will never forget, whom we want to talk about, miss them, try to imagine how they would have grown up, what they would have become. We continue to live our lives, but we have learned to stop, take time for ourselves and others, learn to be with ourselves, our feelings and thoughts about the little angels. You should not try to forget the loss, you should learn to live with it. “

Events:

Our employees actively participaed in a few conferences related to motherhood, pregnancy, families. There we shared our experience, spread news about our help we provide. We are very happy to share the news that our Center received a nomination from NGO confederation for children,  Municipality of Vilnius and Children‘s rights office - „The Best Friend of a Child„.

Thank you for you sensitivity and help!

With warm regards,

Krizinio neštumo centras team
