Save a new life by supporting pregnant woman

" I remember that August morning (when I took the pregnancy test) as it would be today.... I basically knew I would see 2 stripes. We wanted a baby, I expected to conceive a son, and I was really determined to have a fifth child. But ... When It happened, I was overwhelmed with panic, tears, anger, and a great reluctance to continue pregnancy. It was terrible, I felt in great despair: how to tell relatives, what to say at work. All thoughts were to terminate the pregnancy, even though, I think, I couldn’t do so. Then I started looking for help. I had already heard of this page "neplanuotasnestumas.lt". So without much consideration I wrote a letter. I got a quick reaction and help. I couldn’t believe that someone cared about women like me. But I got all the help I needed. Constant conversations, encouragement, helped me carry my baby. I am extremely grateful to the amazing women who work there. I didn’t even imagine that such sincerity and patience was possible. I am glad to have discovered the psychologist Ramune, who is worth the most beautiful words. Thank you from all my heart.

We are happy to announce that we got news of 21 babies born to women who got help at the Centre.

During the period of 4 months 157 new people (147 women 10 men) applied our Centre and asked for help. 502 consultations were provided to them.

As the Centre provides help for 2 years, we also helped around 100 clients that receive continuous help, mostly material. Most of the consultations provided were psychosocial –340, psychological – 116, doula – 16, gynaecologists -12, 18 - other  (psychiatrists, lawyers, “buddies”). Centre delivered 20 baby layettes, 33 baby strollers, 17 baby beds, 7782 pieces of diapers, more than 170 sets of clothes for babies and mothers and lots of hygiene items. 8 women received regular financial help needed to cover their living or medical expenses or we directly bought food to them. Other financial help was not periodical but more one-time. Overall finantial help were over 4656 euro. 

During this period we organized 2 self-help groups to women suffering after miscarriages, 1 group to women facing pregnancy crisis, 1 support group after delivery and 1 group for pregnant women from Ukraine.
When the War in Ukraine started, our Centre decided to contribute to the cause of helping Ukrainian mothers. We sent a big shipment of diapers and formula milk to Ukraine. Later on war refugees came to Lithuania - mostly women with children. We welcomed pregnant women or those who have babies to apply for help. We organized a special therapy group for them. And we continue helping them with all necessities: baby beds, strollers, clothing, hygiene items for baby and mother, etc.

One of the letters from a women who participated in self – help therapy groups after miscarriage:  

"It was useful that each meeting had its own topic, those topics went smoothly into each other. I felt like I was on a journey where I explored my experience from different angles. The reactions and observations of other participants acted as the treatment also. It was very wonderful to travel accompanied by professional and sensitive guides - Jurate and Lina. I found community and support in this group, I had an opportunity to be open and safe in expressing my emotions. Thank you and wish you to reach as many women as possible who are in need of such meetings.”
