This time of worldwide pandemic is difficult for every person. It is even more challenging to women who are expecting and are having difficult situations in regards of their pregnancies. Emotional tensions might be evident in many areas – relationship between partners, regarding material matters, family finances, health issues regarding bearing and secure delivery of a baby. Women and families had different crisis pregnancy situations at all times, however during ordinary times they had more possibilities to get their emotions back to normal easier: face to face conversations with family members, friends, psychologists, massage or water therapy activities, change of environment – all that helps to calm and accept challenging situations easier.
Despite everything, our Centre adapts to current situation and continues to help women who apply the Centre. From the start of our project (in December, 2020) 132 new people applied for help. And we had about 80 whom we were already helping. Totally we provided 578 consultations. Most of them were psychosocial –319, psychological – 199, doula – 29, other -31 (obstetricians, gynaecologists, psychiatrists, lawyers). In March we started 2 self-help groups – one to women after miscarriage and one to women who are currently experiencing crisis pregnancy. Those groups are online so women from all towns in Lithuania and even Lithuanians living abroad can participate. We were happy to get news about birth of 21 babies!
Feedback from crisis pregnancy group
“Knowing that I am not alone, that I have someone who supports me, has helped and encouraged me a lot. I grew stronger, I was no longer afraid, I made friends with other women and I started enjoying my pregnancy. There were no more stress and anxiety. ”
Feedback from group after miscarriage
“The most important thing in participating in this group is this special feeling of friendship with other women who have the same experience. In those meetings not only are your experiences received with respect, but it's also a place where you have the right to talk about your experiences, unlike in any other company. ”
Besides psychological and other consultations, we provided material help. We delivered over 6300 units of diapers, 18 baby layettes, 13 baby strollers, a lot of hygiene items and packets of clothes for women and their children and other items needed to raise a child.
We are happy to announce that starting from February we have our little premisses in Kaunas. When quarantine period is over, we will be having more activities there: volunteer meetings, private consultations, self-help groups.
Thank you so much for Your valuable support!
With warm regards,
