Sahar Education is steadfast in its mission to educate and empower Afghan women and girls, even as NGOs face an uncertain future due to recent USAID funding challenges. In 2025, we have launched three new programs—Thrive, Secret Scholars Online, and Empowerment Bridge—meeting the urgent demand for education in a hostile environment. These initiatives join our existing programs, including Underground Tech Sheroes and Threads of Hope, reinforcing our commitment to accessible learning and holistic support. Enrollment is open now.
Thrive Program
Thrive is breaking barriers by giving Afghan women and girls access to high-quality online courses through Coursera. Available in English and Farsi, Thrive offers training in technology, business, health, and more, helping participants gain skills that lead to real opportunities. Flexible, self-paced learning, offline access, and certification pathways make it one of the most accessible education programs available. Open to learners in Afghanistan and Afghan refugees worldwide, Thrive is already transforming lives.
Secret Scholars Online
In partnership with Learning Upgrade, Secret Scholars Online is delivering education directly to Afghan women and girls in their homes. This program bypasses socio-political restrictions, allowing participants to study English and Mathematics—including TOEFL prep—safely and at their own pace. With mobile-friendly, interactive courses and low-data options, learning has never been more accessible. Women aged 14 and up can apply now, with new cohorts starting regularly.
Empowerment Bridge
Education alone isn’t enough. That’s why we’ve launched Empowerment Bridge, a resource hub providing support for personal and professional growth. Participants gain access to mental health resources, professional development guidance, and a directory of education and work opportunities. With rising gender-based violence and increasing barriers to success, Empowerment Bridge is a crucial tool in the fight for women’s empowerment in Afghanistan.
Afghan women and girls refuse to be silenced. Sahar Education stands with them, providing real opportunities in the face of adversity. These programs are already making an impact, and with your support, we can reach even more learners. Just $10 a month funds a girl’s access to Secret Scholars Online, giving her the chance to learn and hope for a better future. Join us—donate today and be part of the change.
