The Ethiopian wolf, one of the world's most endangered mammals, is critically at risk, with only about 500 remaining in the wild. This project aims to protect the species by strengthening conservation efforts in six Afroalpine regions. Key threats include habitat loss from agriculture, livestock grazing, & human encroachment, compounded by climate change. The project will focus on habitat protection, improving wildlife security, & raising awareness to ensure the survival of this iconic specie
The Ethiopian wolf faces multiple challenges, including habitat loss from agricultural expansion, livestock grazing, and human settlements. This reduces and fragments their habitat, making it harder for them to find food and breed. Climate change further disrupts the ecosystem, reducing prey and suitable habitats. Additionally, limited resources and trained personnel hinder wildlife protection efforts, while illegal settlements & land use practices continue to encroach on critical wolf habitats
Donation will equip and train 30 park rangers and law enforcement officers with uniforms, shoes, and monitoring tools (e.g., GPS, binoculars) to protect wolves and their habitats.. It will also conduct training for local communities & awareness campaigns on the importance of conserving wolves. Install surveillance systems and provide vehicles to support ranger patrols .It will establish a wildlife veterinary clinic, relocate 100 illegal settlers with housing livelihood support,
This project will have a far-reaching impact, benefiting both Ethiopian wolves and the broader ecosystem. By equipping rangers with training and essential tools, wildlife protection efforts will be significantly strengthened. Relocating illegal settlers and restoring habitats will improve ecological integrity, creating safer environments for the wolves. Community engagement will foster long-term conservation. Ultimately, the project aims to stabilize and recover the Ethiopian wolf population,
