Dear Supporter
Thank you for your generous support for Phase I of our Clean Water Project.
Back in November, Mayor Potencial closed out a Raffle and received enough individual donations that combined with your donation we were able to fund the $5,500 Sawyer Zone I water filters including the delivery and training provided by Water with Blessings. The filtering system serves as the immediate first step to address the severe health and wellness issue that rural communities in Honduras have been enduring. These filters can eliminate waterborne parasites that have been found present in the current available water sources. With this funding, we were able to help 294 homes in 9 villages to obtain parasite free drinkable water. The delivery of the filters and training were held on Nov 16th and Nov 17th.
Additionally last month, we announced the achievement of our Phase I goal of $10,000 through GlobalGiving. With this funding, we have kicked off the engineering site surveying to evaluate permanent water infrastructure for the village. The engineering team, led by Elvis Flores, has been working on conducting a survey of the homes, terrain, and the elevations in order to properly plan for the best method for water transportation, filtration, storage, and delivery. Pesticides are highly difficult to remove from water and the sawyer Zone 1 filters are not able to remove them, which is why we need a filtration system. The engineering report will be available by Feb 2021. As soon as we receive it we will share our plans for Phases II and III,
Donations $18,564
Expenses $17,155
Balance Towards Phase II of Clean Water Project $1,408
Access to clean water remains a priority for Mayor Potencial’s effort in Honduras during Covid-19. However, we have added an emergency project for Hurricane Relief. As you know Honduras was devastated by two category four hurricanes less than two weeks apart. You can learn more about our Hurricane Relief projects by visiting www.mayorpotencial.org, donating at our GlobalGiving site, (https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/hurricane-eta-relief-for-200-families-in-honduras/) or contacting Nancy at 607-745-2632. Thank you, again, for your wonderful support of these important projects.
