By Michael Hynds | Director of Fundraising, Maternity Africa
Thursday 4 June was a special day at Maternity Africa’s Kivulini Maternity Centre in Northern Tanzania, with three healthy triplets born to Mary (31). Already a mother of two boys, Thursday’s delivery added two girls and another boy to Mary’s family.
Mary has no job, and her husband does casual work. She came to Kivulini Maternity Centre with lower abdominal pain. She was admitted, and diagnosed with threatened pregnancy, and was discharged after five days, the pain having gone.
Mary returned a week later, and delivered her three babies normally within 25 minutes from start to finish. They were cared for initially in Maternity Africa’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and are all making good progress.
Mary is delighted with her three new babies, and is thinking about how best to care for and provide for them, with only her, her husband and now file children at home.
