The SOLVE-IT-RIGHT (SIR) Project aims to provide a free weekly math program for community development. This program seeks to empower boys of ages 14-18 with essential math skills while promoting a sense of community engagement and development. Through interactive sessions, engaging activities, and collaborative problem-solving, participants will enhance their math proficiency and critical thinking abilities.
Math skills require consistent practice and reinforcement. If boys are not provided with enough opportunities to practice math concepts or do not engage in regular math-related activities outside of the classroom, they might struggle to retain and apply their learning. It is crucial to address these issues by promoting a positive attitude towards math, providing equal support and opportunities for boys, and creating inclusive learning environments that cater to different learning styles.
SOLVE-IT-RIGHT(SIR) Project will enable participants acquire skills required for problem solving, logical reasoning, and the ability to think in productive ways. This program has a nine months' class attendance of an 8-hour weekly math nurturing class. (BMAN) in collaboration with Community Development Associations (CDAs), Clubs and some stakeholders jointly prepares 50 beneficiaries per community annually and the best three students qualify for the S.I.R Math Boot-Camp and Competition.
The long-term impact of mentoring boys in math is profound. By providing academic support, cultivating problem-solving skills, fostering a love for the subject, and offering emotional guidance, mentors can empower boys and equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in their mathematical pursuits. Not only does this positively impact their academic performance, but it also sets them on a path towards future success in various career fields that require a strong foundation in math.
