Rupert and Ben, two former Richmond rugby players, swam 28.5 miles in September around Manhattan Island for 2 causes close to their hearts.
Rupert swam to support the Defbrillator fund the Richmond Heavies set up to get a working defibrialltor in every rugby club in England. So far this fund has provided 60 community clubs across England with a defibrialltor and the required training to effectively use them. These defibrillators have already saved lives and it is crucial more clubs have them.
Ben swam to raise funds for Diabetes UK, a cause he cares about deeply after his son, Maximus, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12. The donations raised will go directly to doctors who are working to find a cure for over 400,000 people in the UK who live with type 1 diabetes, and face a constant daily struggle to cope with it.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, or supported Rupert and Ben in their swim.
