Calcutta Rescue’s Swiss Supporter Yooby Gigandet and Line Ruffieux are coordinating this project, Run for Calcutta Rescue- Amsterdam Marathon 2023 with an amazing initiative focusing on a goal of improving the daily lives of the underprivileged residing in Kolkata’s slum. They are a group of friends who met together during their studies and stayed friends thereafter. Line and Yooby, together they visited India in the year 2019 and observed the distressed condition of the slum dwellers. They also spent quality time with the school children. After being a witness to the pathetic condition of the slum dwellers, they have dedicatedly taken initiatives for raising funds through Run for calcutta Rescue- Amsterdam Marathon project. In the interest of raising funds for the underprivileged, they went to Amsterdam and ran the marathon, the semi marathon all together.
Yooby and Line are the volunteers of CR, who wanted to raise funds through the Marathon Running Event. Five of their friends also joined this team for this noble cause. They are - Jonas Ruffieux, Enea Figini, Noe Robert, Gaëlle Rémy, Mara wydler! All of them are between 24 to 28 years of age groups. Unitedly they participated in this wonderful marathon event with the sole wish to ensure a better living standard for the deprived.
Their enthusiasm even led them to practise together for the marathon for running two to six times a week. They also participated in some other running events in regards to preparing themselves for the Marathon race.
The female participants will participate for the semi marathon event i.e. 21 km and three male participants will run for the 42 km event. So all together they will raise funds while covering 131 km. They are aiming to raise a minimum fund of $5000 to support Calcutta Rescue for renovating the houses in the slums and to support the Living standards program of Calcutta Rescue.
