Dear Friend,

Your support is so vital to saving critically endangered yellow-naped Amazon parrots. We want to say thank you and also alert you to the current situation. Here is what is going on:

Our highly sucessfully yellow-naped Amazon parrot program expanded from Nicaragua to El Salvador in 2024. This is important because El Salvador's population is one of the most imperiled due to decades of wildlife traffic.

In January 2025, the U.S. Government froze funding for the El Salvador program at a time when parrots were nesting and we were already monitoring many active nests with baby parrots in the nest. This means that donors like are who can help save a parrot nest.

We are now in the final push to help baby parrots hatch. We have 25 nests under the care of our community rangers. This incredible number of critically endangered parrots includes nests from both El Salvador and Nicaragua.

We feel so much hope because the new nests in El Salvador have been located for us by local fishermen who are admittedly former poachers. These fishermen are now working round the clock under close coordination by Paso Pacifico biologists and also the supervision of Salvadoran law enforcement authorities.

Will you help a baby parrot to thrive? From today, March 25th until March 28th, your donation of up to $50 will be matched at 50% by this platform, GlobalGiving. This is an incredible chance to expand your impact.

Thank you for your support and for helping us to save the critically endangered yellow-naped Amazon parrot.

With gratitude,

Sarah
