Looking towards the Future

AFTA Women Org. meeting to collect credit payments

2017 marked another busy and successful year to improve lives. Our overall 2017 portfolio comprised of 28 projects. Among the 28 projects, 5 projects specifically focused on community credit funds. These community credit funds that are predominantly used by women are a means for revenue creation. As Haiti’s unemployment rate floats at 65%, these credit funds allow beneficiaries to feed their families. The Lambi Fund, through your support was able to provide over $40,000 to 5 organizations that allowed over 430 beneficiaries to access that money to either start or support their existing enterprises. Please see table (attachment 1) for breakdown.

The long-term benefits of such program are that women as business owners become self-sufficient. As a result of this, they can provide for and support their families. In the bigger scheme of things, the enterprises that these women own also stimulates the Haitian economy allowing local goods, at a cheaper price to be sold.

For 2018, it is Lambi’s goal to expand these programs and provide more enterprise opportunities to women via the community fund projects. These projects as in all projects with the Lambi Fund will be accompanied with trainings. These trainings will focus on finance/record-keeping and organizational capacity building. However, Lambi is focused on expanding and empowering the role of women. To achieve this, Lambi plans to add special leadership and gender equity trainings to the projects. We

We are so grateful for your continued support and ask you to share our project, to share our 2018 vision to empower women and put 150 women into their own small business. Thank You.
