This project will help to reunify/reintegrate 243 children who are living and Working in streets of Mwanza City to safe families and community in Tanzania. The project has two temporary shelters namely Back home House where children get psycho-social support for three months and Malimbe Family where children get psycho - social support for three years. In these two centers we have social workers who can do child and family counselling to help smooth reunification/reintegration.
There currently more than 900 street children living and working in the streets of Mwanza City, Tanzania according to head count done by Children NGOs working in Mwanza sponsored by Railway Children Africa in 2017. These children are at risk of abuse, diseases, starvation as they are not guaranteed with their rights, protection and safeguarding. This project will affect 243 Children who are living and working in the street of Mwanza City in Tanzania to be reunified in their safe families.
UPENDO DAIMA provides nutritious food, temporary shelters, counseling, scholastic materials, health care and reunification to children living and working in the streets of Mwanza City. The children and the families are counselled and helped to cope with trauma and at the end the children and the families and communities are ready to be reunified. The short term temporary shelter keeps children for 3 months while the long term shelter keeps children up to 3 years before they are reunified.
The project will reunify/reintegrate 243 children living and working in the streets of Mwanza City; this also will lead to counsel 243 families in the community to create safe environment for the children to be reunified safely.
