Cultivating a new generation of wetland defenders

Throughout May, June, and July, we have been dedicated to nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards through our weekly workshops focused on local plant cultivation. These sessions have engaged children and youth in activities designed to foster a deep appreciation and understanding of the importance of preserving our natural surroundings in Ayapel.

Workshop Details

  • Frequency: Weekly
  • Total Workshops: 20
  • Participants: Children and Youth

Activities Conducted

  1. Plant Cultivation Techniques: Teaching participants how to grow local plant species, understanding their needs, and the best practices for their care.
  2. Plant Care and Maintenance: Focusing on the day-to-day activities required to keep the plants healthy and thriving.
  3. Greenhouse Management: Educating on how to maintain the greenhouse environment to support plant growth, including temperature control, watering systems, and pest management.

Our workshops have successfully instilled a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm among the participants towards environmental conservation. By engaging with the local flora, the children and youth have not only gained practical gardening skills but also a lifelong appreciation for the importance of wetlands and green spaces in their community.

Cultivando una Nueva Generación de Defensores de Humedales

Durante mayo, junio y julio, nos hemos dedicado a fomentar la próxima generación de defensores ambientales a través de nuestros talleres semanales enfocados en el cultivo de plantas locales. Estas sesiones han involucrado a niños y jóvenes en actividades diseñadas para fomentar una apreciación y comprensión profunda de la importancia de preservar nuestro entorno natural en Ayapel.

Actividades Realizadas

  1. Técnicas de Cultivo de Plantas: Enseñando a los participantes cómo cultivar especies de plantas locales, comprendiendo sus necesidades y las mejores prácticas para su cuidado.
  2. Cuidado y Mantenimiento de Plantas: Enfocándose en las actividades diarias necesarias para mantener las plantas saludables y prósperas.
  3. Manejo de Invernaderos: Educando sobre cómo mantener el Vivero para apoyar el crecimiento de las plantas, incluyendo el control de temperatura, sistemas de riego y manejo de plagas.

Impacto

Nuestros talleres han logrado inculcar un sentido de responsabilidad y entusiasmo entre los participantes hacia la conservación ambiental. Al interactuar con la flora local, los niños y jóvenes no solo han adquirido habilidades prácticas de jardinería, sino también una apreciación de por vida por la importancia de los humedales y los espacios verdes en su comunidad.
