Project Summery: Primary survey result in southern areas of Bangladesh 19% and above school student are sufferings refractive error. We are thinking how to provide eye health support to underserved school student . They are also sufferings refractive error due to not available eye health service provider in villages, they are not capable to take services with cost. As a result if the people take these facilities from us then reduce rate of childhood blindness & refractive error in this areas.We have served 50000 village students for Eye check up & 10000 powered spectacles provided to RE students for restore vision.
Budget:$10000 will restore vision through powered spectacles to 1000 Bangladeshi village school students.
Chalanges
Primary survey result in southern areas of Bangladesh 19% and above school student are sufferings refractive error. In these circumstances we feeling how to provide support underserved school Children . They are also sufferings refractive error due to not available eye health service provider in village areas, at the same time they are not capable to take services with cost. As a result if the 1000 students directly benefited , 5000 students will be taken primary vision test & trained 200 teachers .
Solution
The purpose of this program Bakergonj Forum is to screen school children for Refractive Error (RE) and correct cases where RE is found by providing powered spectacles to school children on consideration of gender equality. Bakergonj Forum will be organized Eye camp & Vision chart has been installed in these schools and teachers have been trained to provide instant RE check-ups for the all students . As a result, beneficiaries (School Children)of this program will have better vision.
Long-Term Impact
This project will help prevent childhood blindness. As a result, beneficiaries of this program (i.e. patients who start using spectacles with there families ) will have better vision. In the process, awareness on RE will be raised in program locations, Teachers-staff and surrounding areas. As a result if the people take these facilities from us then we can play good roll for reducing rate of blindness & refractive error in this areas. The program will also contribute towards improving the overall quality of life in the educational society.
