A team of 60 staff and volunteers from YAPPIKA-ActionAid Indonesia and its partners are right now in Palu, Sulawesi, coordinating relief with communities affected by last weekend's massive earthquake and tsunami.
Our supporters have already helped provide 2,500 displaced people in Palu with urgently-needed supplies, including solar lamps, tents, and tarpaulins. We've also been able to conduct search-and-rescue operations, set up a public emergency kitchen, and gather important data on the scope of the disaster.
Here's a glimpse at the operations in Palu - a video of the ActionAid team distributing supplies.
In the coming days, our local team and partners will continue to meet with the community and distribute additional supplies including water, diapers, and blankets.
According to the United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs, there are nearly 200,000 people in urgent need of assistance, about a quarter of them children.
If you haven't already, will you share our project link with just three friends? We know we can do even more, together.
