Currently, the victims in Syria cannot stay inside the buildings, so they live in tents or trucks temporarily. Although there are collective shelters, there are no privacy, protection, and hygiene items, which makes their daily life inconvenient.
The Mustard Seed Mission’ partner, Medair, visited a lot of collective shelters that are formal and informal and found every possible need that you could think of and there was desperately lacking and urgently needed.
There were already 4.1 million people who need the humanitarian response and now they’ve got these earthquakes affecting on top of that. Medair is evaluating the recovery efforts of the affected area, with the most important services including providing mental health support. Besides, Medair is scaling up its efforts in Aleppo, Syria, and another emergency response team continues to support the affected areas in Turkey.
