Summary
The project, Resource Center for 150 youth in Kisumu, is working to enable young people in Kisumu to access resources for skill development and innovation.
Through GlobalGiving and our community of supporters, we raised $321. With these funds, we have been able to:
- Start mapping resources in our community including institutions, recreation centers and maker spaces to establish a network for positive youth development. Our stakeholder map is available through this link: https://kumu.io/JAY4T/pyd#stakeholders
- Engage 45 young people in listening sessions to understand their needs of a resource platform.
- Create the concept of mentorship for the Resource Center that allows for transition to economic sustainability through sustainable jobs and through entrepreneurship.
The organization is reducing its operations cost to avail more money for the projects’s deliverables. This is by opting for a co-working space to cut on the rent, and using a pay-phone to cut on subscription costs.
Moreover, the organization is currently streamlining its processes by having a clear outline of procedures and of stakeholders. The organization is also centralizing its system by making efficient the accessibility of both online and offline tools including files, website, email, phone and physical working space.
