Dear friends,
As you may remember in our last report, our agroforestry model plot has proven to be successful in producing fruits such as oranges, papaya, and pineapple. While the success has been delightful, our team on the ground continues working tirelessly to monitor the growth of all the trees and plants on the model plot.
Regular monitoring is essential not only to ensure the sustainability of the project, but also to collect as much information as possible so that when smallholder farmers replicate the agroforestry model, our team will be ready with the solutions should any challenges arise for them.
In order to gather regular monitoring data, the field staff has been trained in data collection to effectively collect the necessary information which will allow for estimating the growth and productivity of the trial plots. From measuring the acidity to testing for heavy metals in the soil from various locations within the agroforestry plot, the team on the ground leaves no stones unturned in terms of gathering information.
Thank you for being part of our journey to support smallholder farmers in Central Kalimantan! Please keep us in mind when you are in conversation with your family and friends—every donation counts.
