In 2020, 37 girls have been rescued from sexual exploitation in India. These victims were rescued before the Lockdown started in India. Because of the Lockdown, many people in the informal sector are in crisis.
At this moment, 700 to 800 children are stuck in the Red Light Area in Nagpur, India. These are the children of sex workers and children who are sexually exploited. We realize that sexual exploitation continues, also during the lockdown. These children are even more vulnerable now that the brothel owners try to rescue their businesses.
We try to do what we can and distribute emergency aid packages with food, milk for babies and hygiene products. If you are in the possibility to give, please continue to support our rescue teams. Right after the Lockdown, we will continue our rescue activities as soon as possible.
Furthermore, Cyclone Amphan has destroyed hundreds of families. The cyclone has caused at least 12 billion euros in damage. Fortunately, the beneficiaries of Free a Girl are doing well. Thanks to your support, they are in a less vulnerable position. These are challenging times, but we are trying to give emergency support and conduct online investigations and counseling.
Free a Girl has rescued 4721 victims from sexual exploitation until now and we will not give up!
