By Tom Gallagher | CEO & President, Religion News Foundation
Dear Readers,
Thank you for your continued support of the Religion News Foundation’s Religious Literacy Project.
I am pleased to share that on April 24, 2019, the Religion News Service (RNS), the Associated Press (AP), and The Conversation announced the creation of a global religion journalism initiative. This was made possible by a grant made to Religion News Foundation (RNF) by the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
This initiative includes the creation of a joint global religion news desk aimed at providing balanced, nuanced coverage of major world religions, with an emphasis on explaining religious practices and principles behind current events and cultural movements.
This grant is an historic achievement in the field of journalism and religion journalism, and goes far to fulfill the mission of RNF, in its support of excellent religion journalism and its advancement of religious literacy.
In gratitude,
Tom Gallagher
