Relief through art and laughter in Lebanon

Dear supporters 

Here we are still fighting with our red noses during these difficult times. 

In the past few months since our last update, we have toured many communities around Lebanon trying to reach the most remote ones. We performed and organised events on the streets where people got to come and play together. 

The CMI team took Sami and Rosa, our dear puppets on the streets of Beirut. They did a 20 day research where they walked the streets and asked people about their wishes for the city post the explosion. From that research, a deambulant street show was born invovling 4 actors, 5 musicians and a dancer. Along the way, everyone danced, interacted with passersby, entered shops, and invited people to join the performance, creating a joyful procession that filled the city streets.

In Turkey, Sabine Choucair, Hilary Ramsden and Robyn Hambrook spent 5 days researching new ways of clowning on the streets. it's a research that started in 2020 and still on going focusing on decolonisation of clowning. SOS team in turkey joined for two days to try some new clowning commands on the streets. Great new ideas emmerged. Then 25 people  took the rebel clown workshop. They enjoyed learning and exploring the different ways clowns can be rebels in protests, on the streets and elsewhere. How to use clowning for big political and humanitarian causes. " This workshop was an eye opener on different ways of using the clown nose. I felt untouchable and super excited". ( a workshop participant said)

Now the team is about to go to Sweden for a clown tour in different cities and on different streets. 

Hopefully next time we write, the world would be a kinder less violent place.
