BridgIT Water Foundation refurbished an additional 9 wells in rural Uganda since the January, 2022 interim project report, and delivered safe, clean water to 10,527 more villagers. BridgIT priortizes schools, and 3,386 more students gained access to potable water at their schools. Thank you so much to our generous funders for sponsoring these wells.
Please view the attached photos which give an idea of the construction work on these refurbishment projects. Essentially, the construction workers remove and replace the broken pump and the rusted water pipes, disassemble and upgrade the well head mechanism, and repair any damage to the surface concrete structures.
As you can see, the villagers are so happy and grateful as the village well is very convenient and they avoid the drudgery of hauling heavy water containers every day. Also check the image of the youth collecting water from a surface pond of dirty water. By allowing people to abandon contaminated water sources, these refurbishments have an immediate positive impact on people's health.
There are still 20 villages in the 2022 Uganda Refurbished Well Program, so we will continue this crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to bring safe, clean water to another 20,000 people in rural Mukono District villages this year.
BridgIT Water Foundation thanks you for any additional support you can provide for this project.
