BridgIT Water Foundation is conducting a Fall 2020/Winter 2021 fundraising effort on the GlobalGiving platform so we can refurbish more water wells in rural Uganda. Thanks to our extremely generous supporters, we have been able to raise over US$11,000 so far in this campaign, which means that we are able to refurbish 9 wells, providing over 9,000 people with the basic human right of safe, clean water. Thank you so much to our contributors - your donations make a HUGE difference in the lives of the beneficiaries.
Recently funds have been disbursed to BridgIT, and we are now in the process of planning these projects with our implementing partner, Suubi Community Projects Uganda. Wells located at schools have a high priority because during the pandemic the Ugandan government requires schools to have a local water supply. So if we can refurbish wells that serve the schools (and the surrounding community), the children can return to class and advance their educations. The schools must still employ pandemic safety practices, but the wells remove a major impediment to reopening. In addition, villages with larger populations are prioritized so more people benefit from the accessible and sustainable water supply.
We do not have photos of these projects since we are still in the planning stages, but the images on this report show the before and after stories. The new refurb wells should be complete within the next couple of months, and we'll have images for the next report. Also, we will post images and hopefully videos on the BridgIT Facebook page so people can monitor this work.
Thank you so much for contributing to this project. :)
