We received a report about a ghost net at Pulau Sibu Kukus from one of our Sibu-Tinggi Island Management Committee (STIMC) members. On Saturday 30 March 2019, we went to remove the net with the help from our friends in Rimba Conservation Crew, Twin Beach Resort Pulau Sibu, and Sibu-Tinggi Island Management Committee (STIMC).
Unfortunately, we were not able to get it all out at once as the net is more than 100m in length and covered quite a large area of living reefs. We will be returning to remove the rest of the net. Kudos and big thank you to Rimba Conservation Crew and Twin Beach Resort for supporting the logistics and Sibu-Tinggi Island Management Committee (STIMC) for the exemplary action.
