We are very happy to announce that we are now able to resume environmental education and awareness programmes with schoolchildren on the island. From 2020 to 2022, the efforts had to be halted due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Since the start of this year, we had conducted 3 programmes with schoolchildren on Tioman Island – both primary and secondary schools. The programmes delivered were introduction to island flying fox which can be found on the island, importance of giant clam and recognising various types of fish that can be found at the marina. The schoolchildren were giving indoor classes as well as outdoor practical activities.
Environmental education and awareness promote children to become more engaged with their communities and surrounding environments. It helps them to understand why the environment is important and provides them with the building blocks they need to live eco-friendly and sustainable lives.
