Graduation is a big day for the children at Nzeve ECD, and everyone participates. Parents of children current and past, deaf youth from Sanganai Vocational Project, teachers and staff all gathered to celebrate the young graduates moving to Primary School next year, But the best part for every child was the gift!!
Story time has always been a special time for the children at the preschool. It opens new worlds and is a great way for children and parents to learn new vocabulary in Sign Language. Many children and families in Zimbabwe do not have access to reading books and it is especially hard for deaf children living in rural areas. During the term the children borrow books to take home, but for graduation, each child received their very own reading book!
“Can I open it now?!” the young graduate asked his father. The books create special moments for young deaf children, breaking the language barrier as they learn together with their families.
What a wonderful gift!!
