Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project trying to improve the biodiversity of our mountain areas. We are particularly concerned about the forest or uplant biodiversity and our aim is to plant endemic tree species comprising fruit and timber species. In so doing we will be hitting several goals comprising the improvement of incomes of the beneficiaries as well as improving the soil fertility. Without these 2 goals, biodiversity improvement will be problematic because of continuing encroachment of lowland farmers to the mountains. The government could not prevent this because poor lowland people need also to seek food and provisions and they can get this by eking an existence in forest areas. This reporting period, we are starting a small seedling nursery and model farm and we produce our own organic fertilizer using waste around the farm. This approach is to showcase to farmers that improving the farm can be done with limited resources and using recycled farm wastes.
Again, thank you very much for your generosity.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian
