The project seeks to provide about 2,000 pieces of localized face-mask for health workers at North East Gonja District of Savanna Region, and OTI Region of the Republic of Ghana. The need to supply the face mask to health workers stems from the unavailability and high costs of foreign mask.
Although, the government of Ghana is providing some personal protective equipment's to the front line health workers, these are not enough and therefore, has called on the stakeholders support to compliment the government efforts. We as an organization has noticed that, there are a quite number of traditional birth attendants who also needed the medical protective equipment to work with. This is because, home delivery is on-going at communities that lack medical professionals.
The project will provide localized face-mask to traditional birth attendants and also midwives and nurses we have been working with. We shall also supply disposable tissue paper and quantities of Robbin Alcohol and hand sanitizers for the health workers. We believe this will help them to protect themselves from being infected by the Virus. Localized manufactured face-mask shall be supplied. These can be re-use once they are sterilized after use.
Provide protection for both clients and service providers. The locally manufactured mask could be re-use after sterilization. These. mask could be kept and re-use in the future should we have a situation like COVID-19. Our nurses and traditional midwives would be protected to contract corona-virus in discharging of their duties.
