Dear friends,
The series of lockdowns that were enforced last year to control the spread of COVID in India have had disastrous effect in the state of Bihar. Unable to survive in the cities, daily wagers returned to their villages without work or food.
In an attempt to mitigate the overwhelming livelihood crisis, FORRAD began the manual restoration of pynes (river diversion canals) in two locations within Hilsa and Silao blocks respectively in Nalanda district, Bihar. Your support has enabled us to restore 500 m of pynes in each of these locations generating 2000 days of work and helping 100 families put food on the table.
When the monsoon arrives in a couple of months the pynes will fill with rain and river water improving water availability for farms and households and enhancing agricultural productivity.
Your generous contributions have provided the funding support we needed to sponsor this work relief project. Thank you for your generousity.
We hope to continue providing work and food relief with your support. The impact of COVID is still being felt in villages across India. We hope you will join us in continuing to support this work relief.
Thank you,
Susan Abraham
