For the past two years, we have been training some 20 young girls in a fashion home in Ghana with the hope of establishing them after their training. This year, they shall be done with training and we are among other things seeking to procure some sewing machines for them. After providing them with the machines, we are also looking forward to provide them with a start up fund to help kick-start their fashion businesses.
There are currently a large number of girls on our streets and markets with less or without education and who are being subjected to inhumane treatments, some become teenage mothers and the poverty gaps keep widening and the cycle has been like that. For this poverty cycle to break and the status quo changed, something must be done and BSL Inspirations is ready to lead the change.
Initiatives such as training these girls thereby providing them with employable skills is a step in the right the right direction. This project if achieve will not only keep our young girls off the street but also reduce their vulnerability to social vices and unscrupulous individuals.
The long term impact or effect of this project when achieved is enormous. When we provide these girls with these sowing machines, they become madams of their own, working and feeding their children and supporting their families, and also training other young girls. If 20 girls who have benefited from the first training are able to transfer their knowledge they acquired to other 5 girls each, after two to three more years, we would have successfully taken off the street 120 young girls.
