The NDES Foundation has donated 07 ( fifty dollars per white cane) White Canes for Blind children at the Rehabilitation Institute for the Blind in Buea, a Town in the South West Region of Cameroon- Africa.
The NDEF's project was aimed at providing 40 children at the Rehabilitation Institute for the Blind Buea with white canes to improve the quality of their daily lives. These children go about their daily lives without White canes which poses serious risks of injuries and falls especially in the raining season.
Nonetheless, because of the insufficiency of funds, the NDES FOUNDATION was able to donate 07 White Canes, after raising $310 on GlobalGiving.
The Foundation's team visited the Institute on Saturday August 8 2020, where they met with the administrative head of the Institute, Mr Godfred Anutemeh, as well as one of the Instructors Mr Mbah Gallus. While receiving the gifts, the Instructor Mr Mbah Gallus, mentioned more of their pressing needs such as Braille watches and Braille transcription devices. He also solicited partnerships with more organisations which could help in meeting some of their needs. The donation excercise went on successfully without any major hitches.
These White canes will make life more comfortable for these children, as they are of better quality than the ordinary sticks which they used in the past.
