With a lot of gratitude, HAART Kenya thanks you all for your continuous support in facilitating their work of providing girl child victim of human trafficking shelter. The donations have gone a long way in aiding with provision of different intervention services to the victims.
The sole aim of establishing the shelter was to offer girl child victim of human trafficking trauma informed and victim centered services to aid them in their healing process. These services include; shelter, basic needs, psycho-social support, medical aid, legal aid and educational support that is demarcated into three areas which are; basic literacy, long term educational support and skills training.
Our goal in the past 3 months was rescue, rehabilitation, home tracing, family support, economic empowerment, reintegration and follow-up for the victims.
Since we expanded our capacity in the last reporting period, we have been able to provide shelter for more victims 2 of whom are physically disabled. During this last quarter of October, shelter’s population grew after the girls enrolled in different school reported back for holiday.
At the core of our work, was rigorous skills training for the girls. They made beautiful pieces that includes skirts, dresses, bags, indoor slippers, bangles, earrings and floor mats.
