What does it mean to be a supporter of Benevolence Farm? It means to create opportunities; it means to facilitate access; it means to provide second chances.
Because of our donors, in the past three months, three Benevolence Farm residents have accomplished personal goals, developed new skills, and engaged in the community. Missy completed her PACT Certification Class through the NC Home Builders Association, Keia supervised the first month of CSA packing and delivery, and the whole team attended the Conservation Fund Healthy Eating & Active Living Conference!
Brooke, in particular, reached a major milestone in the past few months by completing her Peer Support Specialist Certification. A certified peer support specialist is someone with lived experience that works to support others who have similar lived experience in their recovery & healing.
"My peer support training was a mind blowing experience. A few things I am taking from my experience is that as leaders we should never overstep certain boundaries. I believe as a society that people in certain authoritarian roles take advantage of others without the knowledge of the devastating effect. I learned that as humans we are all imperfect and respecting and validating others is a must. I also learned that my life learned experiences will, have and will continue to help others, as long as I keep myself well. I am very excited to see what the future holds for the peers I will work with and myself." - Brooke (Benevolence Resident)
We are grateful for the continued support of our donors and look forward to sharing more exciting celebrations with our community!
